Today more than ever, investors are calling for socially responsible investment opportunities, and markets are answering. But sustainable investing isn’t as simple as choosing a reusable bag over plastic in the checkout line.
Simply Sustainable™ is a notion by Stewart Group to reinforce the case for workplace sustainability initiatives and introduce a science-based approach to investing for sustainable and ethically-minded investors.
Our investment strategies enable investors to customise their global allocation while consistently applying sustainability criteria across a total portfolio.

Good question.
With all the different messages surrounding the concept of sustainable investing, it is often hard for investors to understand its meaning and discover its benefits.
Some of the terms you may have heard are socially responsible investing (SRI), or investing according to ESG (environmental, sustainability and governance) principals. There’s a wide gamut of “green” investment terms, and this lack of standard nomenclature can make navigating investment offerings tricky.
Here at Stewart Financial Group, we believe ethical practice is a strong foundation for success. We have long championed sustainability values, and with the help of our partners at Dimensional Fund Advisers, we are able to offer our clients investment options which align with their own environmental, ethical, sustainability and governance values.

Past performance is not an indication of future results - as we like to say, no one holds a crystal ball which can predict future market behaviour.
However, research regarding past performance indicates that ESG investments historically perform the same or better than their old school counterparts.
Of course, you should always consult a financial adviser before making any financial decisions. Contact us for your free discovery meeting to learn more about your investment options.

TE REHE SOLAR NETWORK
Te Rehe Solar Network was launched in 2022 by Stewart Financial Group, marking the inception of New Zealand’s first private peer-to-peer energy network—and possibly the first of its kind globally.
Named after our holding company, Te Rehe Group, the network honours the legacy of Don and Nick’s tīpuna, Te Rehe (Ngāti Huirapa, Ngāi Tahu). It’s a name rooted in our heritage and committed to our future.
What began as a simple initiative to share surplus solar energy from Stewart Group’s rooftop panels had grown into a vibrant community of environmentally conscious power users. This network reflects our values of sustainability, innovation, and whanaungatanga.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances with our administrative provider, TRSN will enter a temporary suspension starting 31 July 2025. While this pause is necessary, it is not a farewell. We remain hopeful and committed to exploring future possibilities for the network.
Read our Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory for a full scope of our latest emissions reporting across Te Rehe Group.

WALKING THE TALK
We believe sustainability starts at home. That’s why we are constantly looking for ways to improve environmentally, socially and as a business.
Some of our progress so far…
A report by international independent sustainability consultants Thinkstep shows that buildings could amount to 20 per cent of New Zealand’s carbon footprint when considering their lifetime ‘embodied’ emissions.
Our office now runs on solar power. We aim to self-generate our own clean energy, reduce energy costs in the long term and enhance sustainability across our entire company. We monitor the results with the help of a site energy management dashboard by Power Tech.
We have strengthened our sustainable energy infrastructure by adding EV charging stations. Our fleet is now electric and will be run 100% on solar power.
By integrating our EV fleet with renewable on-site EVNEX charging stations we have simplified the transition to EVs and achieve an integrated system.
Park sharing platform Parkable enables us to have complete control over our EV charging stations and provides the technical infrastructure and support we need to make sustainable transport a reality for Stewart Group.
The app provides flexibility and a seamless experience for staff, clients & the public to book parking spots with chargers supplying 100% clean energy for their EVs.
Next time you visit our Hastings office you may notice these flash new hand dryers in the bathrooms. These bad boys are energy efficient and part of our wider efforts to reduce waste, this time by eliminating the need for paper towels after hand washing.
The best part? While our solar panels are converting beautiful Bay sunshine into power, these will be free to run. Less waste AND less cost. What a win!
